past updates:

June 28, 2004 - I know, I know... I haven't updated in ages. I still don't really have an update. I'm just updating the featured band for the month of July.  Yes, I realized I never updated for June, but anyway... Be sure to pick up the new Taking Back Sunday album on July 27. It's fabulous!

May 4, 2004 - I've updated the featured band of the month.  The music speaks for itself.  If you haven't heard Fall Out Boy yet, then you don't know what you're missing.  I'm sorry.

April 2, 2004 - I've added a new video called "That's So You." The song is by The Rocket Summer. It's simple, but sweet. :)

April 1, 2004 - Happy April Fool's Day! Also, happy birthday to my niece, who turns 10 today. :)  I have updated the featured band of the month. They rock, so check them out. I've never seen them live before, but that will change in just over two week when I head to Asbury Park, NJ for Skate and Surf. I can't wait. I think I may be seeing them in Chicago later this month, as well. So many concerts, so little time!

I have been off on spring break this week, but I spent six days in Florida, so I haven't had time to work on any videos. I still have a few more days and a couple of videos that I'm working on, so I will try to have something completed between now and Sunday.

March 13, 2004 - I've updated the featured band for the month of February.  They are  a very talented band out of Los Angeles, California.  I also  just finished a video featuring their acoustic song, "All Hands on Deck."  It's a very beautiful song and just screamed Pacey and Joey to me when I first heard it.  I am working on a couple of other videos right now, as well, including another one featuring Waking Ashland.

February 15, 2004 - New video!  I made this video in one sitting tonight.  It's short, but sweet.  The song is called "Brightest" by the band Copeland.  This is the original (piano) version of the song from their album, Beneath Medicine Tree.  There is also an acoustic (guitar only) version that you can download right here.  I love both versions of the song, but as you probably know, I'm a total sucker for the piano, so that's the version I chose to use.  Like I said, the video is short (just over two minutes) and based primarily on the series finale.  I hope you enjoy it!  I also added the high quality archived video, "you make my heart happy," featuring the song "My Friend" by Annie Palmer.

February 5, 2004 - I've updated the featured band.  I'm working on a couple of new videos.  I have no idea when they will be done though.  Maybe later this weekend after I get back from seeing BRAND NEW in Toronto!  Woohoo!

January 19, 2004 - I'm on a roll! I finished another video. I've been working on this one for a while. It was just really hard to decide how I wanted to do it.  I thought about using all Season 3 clips or all Season 6 clips.  I ended up using a mix of both, but mostly Season 6.  Hopefully it's not bad.  The video is called "it's only you, beautiful".  I used "The No Seatbelt Song" by Brand New.  It's seriously one of the angstiest songs ever written.

January 17, 2004 - Wow, it's been a very long time since I've updated. First of all, Happy 2004, a little belated!  If you read my live journal, you know that things have been really busy for me lately, which explains the lack of updates here.  I should have updated some when I was on winter break.  Since I went back to work, I've barely had time to breathe.  It's a long weekend though, so I got a little productive.

I've added a new video and hope to have one or two more finished sometime soon.  The song I used for my latest is called "Skyline Drive" by the band Mae.  It's a really pretty song.  They're a great band.  I've also made them the featured band of January, or at least, what's left of it.  Be sure to check them out and enjoy!

I updated the recommended music list, as well. For anyone who is still mourning the loss of The Movielife (like me), you will definitely want to check out Nightmare of You, Brandon's new band, if you haven't already. Different sound, but really good stuff.

I have some video clips from the Brand New shows in Chicago and Cincinnati that I took with my lovely digital camera. The quality isn't the greatest, but you can hear them really well. Here are the links (please right click and "save target as") to a few of them, if you're interested:

"She gave the final goodbye; it was a punch in my eye..." (Chicago, 11/23/03)

Jesse singing "I Wasn't Prepared" with Eisley (Cincinnati, 11/26/03)

Brand New performing Straylight Run's "Mistakes..." during "Seventy Times 7" (Cincinnati, 11/26/03)

December 1, 2003 - Happy December! I've updated the featured band for the month of December. Surprise, surprise, right? :)

November 30, 2003 - I randomly made a new video tonight.  I did it in one sitting and kind of quick, so I hope it doesn't suck. My Brand New obsession continues to grow by the day, even though I'm still a little bit mad at Jesse, lol. Anyway, I used the song, "Moshi, Moshi", which can be found on their split EP with Safety in Numbers. It's one of my favorite songs, and I thought it fit Season 3 from Pacey's perspective fairly well. If only Brand New would have performed this song live at one of the two shows I went to this past week. I don't know what makes Detroit so special!  Anyway, I'm also working on another video set to another Brand New song (imagine that), so expect that sometime in the near future.

I'll be updating the featured band of the month later today or sometime tomorrow.

November 19, 2003 - It's close enough midnight here, so I'm going to date this as the 19th.  I finished my latest P/J video tonight!  I used the song "Push" off Sarah McLachlan's new album, Afterglow.  The song is such a perfect fit from the viewpoint of Joey to Pacey.  I just love it.  I hope you will love it and the video too! :)

November 18, 2003 - Well, I finally caved.  I now have my very own Live Journal.  So, if you are ever really bored and are looking for something to read, check out my journal here.

Video update... I'm about halfway done with a new video, so keep an eye out for that.  I am hoping to finish it before the weekend

In other news, I was recently contacted by Lesly, who sings lead vocals  in a band called Private Idea.  She wrote a song inspired by Pacey and Joey and made a video for it and asked me if I would put a link up here.  So, without further ado, here is the song and video: Separation of Life and Television (please right click on the link and "save target as").  If you would like to give Lesly or the band any feedback, there is  a contact page at their website.

November 9, 2003 - I've updated the featured band for November.  I've also added the archived high quality video, The Best of Me, which includes music from this month's featured band.  I have some new videos in the works, but I probably won't have anything complete for at least a few weeks when I  get a little bit of time off work.

November 2, 2003 - Finished!  I've finally added a new video called "my heart remains with you".  The song I used is called "If All Else Fails" by former featured band, Matchbook Romance.  I'm still completely hooked on their new album, and the more I listened to this song, the more it reminded me of Pacey and Joey.  Enjoy!

October 31, 2003 - Happy Halloween! No new video yet, but I'm over half-done. Expect that sometime on Sunday.

JamisonParker now has an e-card. Check it out here!  It lets you listen to the entire EP.  "Biting Bullets" is my absolute favorite song. :)  If you want to get the EP, which I highly recommend, you will probably have to look under "P" for Parker at the record stores.  They seem to think that the band is a singer named "Jamison Parker", so they have it in the wrong spot.

Here is a review of the EP from Rolling Stone:

Jamison Parker Notes & Photographs (Interscope)

Jamison Parker sounds like a cheesy stage name, but it's really the duo of Jamison Covington (vocals, guitar) and Parker Case (bass, drums, vocals) who met after exchanging demos via mail. Their debut EP, Notes and Photographs is reminiscent of the Smithereens and Marshall Crenshaw combined with the bouncy energy of Stellastarr or the Vines. A tongue in cheek sensibility and wordplay make light of bad relationship angst. "You remind me of a song I used to love," Covington sings on "Your Song," and "You are the girl who made love a four letter word" on "Biting Bullets." It's enough to whet the appetite for next year's full-length release. (PJ GACH)

(October 27, 2003)

October 23, 2003 - I went ahead and updated the "band featurette" for the meantime.  You can still link to the Something Corporate (October) feature here, if you missed it.

I'm still working on my new video.  I'll try to get it finished and up tomorrow, but it will most likely be on Sunday at the earliest.  I have to take my kittens to the vet tomorrow, run a bunch of errands, and go to The Ataris concert tomorrow night.  I'll be spending all day on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the Purdue/Michigan game.  It should be a good one!  I will try to get the video done sometime this weekend though.

October 21, 2003 - North is out!  I hope you all went out and bought it today.  It's only $6.98 at Target... well worth it!  I actually got my copy in the mail yesterday because I pre-ordered it.  I'm in love with several of the ongs, most notably "Ruthless," "She Paints Me Blue," "21 and Invincible," and "Miss America."  The whole CD is really great though!  Don't forget to catch them performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight!

One more day until I have some time off for fall break.  Yay!  I've already got my next video in the works, so look for that sometime this weekend.  I'll also be changing the featured band a little early to sort of a mini-feature that will only be up for a couple of weeks.  A week or so into November (how can it possibly be November already!?), I'll put up the featured band for that month.

October 8, 2003 - Sorry for the lack of real updates.  This isn't one either.  Work is keeping me so busy, I'm exhausted. My weekends are really full, too, with it being football season and all.  I have a couple days off for fall break in a couple of weeks, so I'll try to get a new video or something put together then.

Something Corporate's North player seems to be working now.  You can listen to "Space" and "Down" and sample the entire album.  It's excellent!  If you have trouble with the North player, go to somethingcorporate.com and link to the Jukebox.  You can find that in the upper right hand corner of the main page.  One other bit of news, SoCo will be guests on the radio show Loveline on October 20.  Be sure to tune in!

September 30, 2003 - I've added a new featured band for the month of October.  They are amazing.  Also check out The Early November, who's first full-length will be released next Tuesday, October 7.

"It's Monday  and Raining" - In other news, it's a sad day when one of your favorite, most respectable bands calls it quits.  I've been a fan of The Movielife for years and most recently saw them in concert just 10 days ago.  I definitely didn't see this coming.  A message from The Movielife...

Mon September 29, 2003 10:36:50 AM

I apologize for the delay in posting a statement about what has gone on in the last few days. Hopefully the following letter will say what would have been too difficult to announce any other way.

Today we are officially announcing that we have all mutually decided to stop being the Movielife. It has been the most incredible experience for all of us, but we have no plans to continue being a band. We care greatly for one another and wish each other the best that life can bring.

We want to thank everyone who has allowed us to be a part of their life. Every show and every person's effect on us has been immeasurable. We hope that we have created something that will continue to live and breathe like music should. It is difficult to find the words to explain the magnitude of various emotions we have all gone through recently. It also is difficult to make others understand how we have evaluated our futures.

The beauty of everything though has been the amount we have been able to share with all of you. All of our lives have forever been changed once we made this band our life. Every sacrifice has been worth it. You have all been our heart for so long and we are forever gracious for all that you have allowed us to become. We have been incredibly fortunate to have so many of our dreams come true. The only feeling that has surpassed that is the honor that it has been to share it with all of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Take care of one another. Love Always. The Movielife.

'Cause anything that you do or say couldn't compare to the pain that I felt
The day that we said that we'd go our separate ways

"Walking on Glass"

Thanks for the memories, guys.  It was a great ride.  You will be missed. "I can't pretend that I don't see the end." :(

September 14, 2003 - Okay, I finished a video. It's nearly 5:00 in the morning, but my inspiration kicked in and I didn't want to stop until I was finished.  I used the song "The Tension and the Terror" by Straylight Run.  I'm completely addicted to this band, if you couldn't tell. :)

September 13, 2003 - Sorry for the lack of updates lately.  Work has been kicking my ass during the week and my weekends have been pretty crazy, what with football season and Friday night concerts.  I have a little bit of free time this weekend though, so I plan on working on a new video or two.  I don't know that I'll finish anything, but I am inspired, having seen Straylight Run live last night. There's one word to describe this band: Amazing. Go download their music. And check out the website Useless Division to see videos of one of their first live performances ever from earlier this week.  Good stuff!  My next P/J video will be set to either "Mistake We Knew We Were Making" or "The Tension and the Terror", so go get acquainted with those songs.  You won't be sorry!

August 31, 2003 - Look at this... two videos in 24 hours.  It's a long weekend, and I've been home sick the entire time. Go figure.  I needed something to keep me busy, so why not finish up a couple videos?  Anyway, this newest video is a P/J one.  The song is called "Existentialism on Prom Night" and is by the amazing new band, Straylight Run.  The band was formed by ex-Taking Back Sunday members, John Nolan (vocals, guitar, piano)  and Shaun Cooper (bass).  They were joined by Will Noon (formerly of Breaking Pangaea) on drums and Michelle Nolan (John's sister) on vocals, piano, and guitar.  It's an amazing combination.

August 30, 2003 - I've added a new video.  It's a little different, this time.  It's a Dawson and Pacey video.  Of course, it has a bit of a P/J twist, so I'm sure you all will enjoy it just the same. :)

I have also updated the featured band for the month of September.  Check them out!

August 20, 2003 - Congratulations to Dashboard Confessional for debuting at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart!

"A Mark. A Mission. A Brand. A Scar," meanwhile, sold 122,000 copies, easily the Chris Carrabba-led act's best week on The Billboard 200. Previously, the group has not sat higher than No. 108 on the tally, a peak reached by 2001's "The Places You Have Come To Fear the Most." To date, that album has sold 424,000 copies.

Consistent touring that has included well-placed slots on a number of major radio station-sponsored festivals, and constant exposure on MTV2 has helped Dashboard Confessional shed its cult status. Current single "Hands Down" is No. 23 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks tally.

Although Universal's Interscope Records has a 49% stake in Vagrant, the Santa Monica, Calif.-based label is distributed by independent TVT, which qualifies "A Mark..." for Billboard's Independent Albums chart, where it arrives at No. 1.

August 14, 2003 - I hope you all went out and picked up the new Dashboard Confessional CD Tuesday.  It's great!  Also, be sure to check them out on Last Call with Carson Daly tonight.  I don't really have much of an update.  I've had a really hectic week and at least another couple of crazy weeks  ahead of me.  I just started a new job, which is going to be keeping me very busy.  I am working on a couple more videos, but I have no idea when I'll get either of them completed.  In the meantime,  I did upload the high quality version of my "Say Anything..." video, so you can download that now for a limited time.

August 10, 2003 - Somehow I knew Chris Carrabba was a Dawson's Creek viewer.  This is from a NY Times online article...

Sweet, Sentimental and Punk
By KELEFA SANNEH

On the same night that the WB network broadcast the final episode of "Dawson's Creek," a few hundred young fans (everyone calls them "the kids") squeezed into S.O.B.'s, the downtown Manhattan nightclub, to hear a punk rock veteran named Christopher Ender Carrabba strum an acoustic guitar and sing lugubrious songs about breaking up. Mr. Carrabba records and performs as Dashboard Confessional, and at his cult-like concerts, the kids sing along with every word, not just mouthing the lyrics but matching Mr. Carrabba's full-throated delivery, and often drowning him out.

Mr. Carrabba told the crowd that he half-wished he was at home, watching the TV show that often played out like one of his clever, anguished songs. Then he sang "I don't wanna wait for our lives to be over," and the kids yelped with delight — it was the theme from "Dawson's Creek."

Be sure to check out the rest of the article.  It talks more about Dashboard Confessional's new album, and emo music, in general.  It mentions several cool emo bands, including Brand New.  There's also a great picture of Chris from Dashboard Confessional  and another picture of Jesse Lacey from Brand New.

August 8, 2003 - I removed my "The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot" high quality video in order to put up a new video.  For a short period of time, there will be two locations where you can download the new video.  This should help with download times.

The song I used is called "Promise".  It's by the band Matchbook Romance and will be on their upcoming album, Stories and Alibis, due out next month.  Believe me, you will be hearing more about this band in the future.  They're really great. :)

August 6, 2003 - I removed the high quality version of my "Until I Met You" video and replaced it with the high quality version of my "The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot" video.  Enjoy.

I found this review for A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar  on a Dashboard Confessional fan site (This Is a Forgery) from Playboy magazine of all places. Ironically enough, it also mentions Dawson's Creek, so I thought I'd share it with you all...

Playboy's September 2003 CD of the Month

Dashboard Confessional

A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar

For those about to emote, he salutes you

If you are secretly mourning the demise of Dawson's Creek, this album should provide consolation.  Chris Carrabba, the emo poster boy who goes by the moniker Dashboard Confessional, is back with more melancholic tunes perfectly suited to accompanying love triangles.  Carrabba's unapologetic earnestness, coupled with an incredible voice, has garnered him a diehard following:  his concerts feature legions of teary fillies (and half as many guys) crooning their lungs out in unison.  The cult of Carrabba will embrace this one, especially "Bend and Not Break", on which he actually flirts with rocking out, and "Ghost of a Good Thing", a nicely done acoustic tune.  If you aren't a fan though, you won't likely be swayed.  In fact, Carrabba's heart-on-sleeve emoting may make you want to grab him and yell, "Cheer up, buddy.  You're a rock star!"

August 5, 2003 - Warped Tour was great.  Seriously, if you haven't checked out the band Brand New yet, you have to.  They are nothing short of  amazing.

If you're having problems viewing the new layout, it's because of your screen area settings.  The site is best viewed at 1024x768 screen resolution, so you might need to adjust your display settings, if possible.  Also, if you're having some trouble downloading the videos  or if download speeds are slow, it's because the server that is hosting them is a very busy one.  Just be patient.  The server traffic varies throughout the day, so you will probably have faster download times late at night or early in the morning.  It also helps if you have a high speed Internet connection. :)

I have added the archived high quality version of my "hands down" video.  It will be available for download for at least the next week, so get it while you can.  Also note that the video files have now been zipped, so you MUST save them to your computer and unzip them in order to view them.  You are no longer able to stream the videos from the site.  This should cut down on bandwidth use, as well as traffic, and hopefully speed up download times.  Please download each video only one time.  If you do not have a program to unzip the files, you can download a FREE evaluation version of WinZip here.

August 3, 2003 - I've added a few more things to the site today.  I have lyrics up for all of the songs used in my VIDEOS now, which can be accessed on the video page.  I've also added more information to the featured band section, including a link to launch Dashboard Confessional's media player, which features two songs off the new album.  There is also a link to "The Leak" at mtv.com, which will allow you to stream the entire album a week early.  Good stuff!

I'll be out of town tomorrow.  I'm going to the Warped Tour in Milwaukee to see some great bands, such as Brand New, The Starting Line, The Ataris, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, The All-American Rejects, Count the Stars, The Used, Mest, Thrice, Motion City Soundtrack, Vendetta Red, and more!  I already went to the Warped Tour when it came through Indianapolis earlier this summer, but a lot of those bands weren't on it then.  I've gone to more concerts than I can count this summer, but this is probably the last one.  Luckily, the fall concert season  is right around the corner!  Anyway, I'll probably add an archived high quality video or two when I get back on Tuesday, so if there's any one in particular you want me to put up, let me know. :)

August 2, 2003 - Well, as you can see, I have finally given the site a bit of a face-lift. I decided to stick with the same theme and color scheme for the time being.  I hope that you like it.

I have a host for my videos!  Huge thanks go to Mandy and josh-jackson.net for helping me out so that I can share my videos with you.  All of my regular quality videos are now online again, with the exception of my "Have a Little Faith in Me" video.  That was lost when Neptune decided to screw me over, so if anyone happens to have that saved, please let me know.  The high quality version of that one was salvaged and is available for download.

I have added a brand new video, as well.  The song is a cover performed by The Starting Line of "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now".  The links to download it are located to the right, and can also be found on the video page.  I will put links for any updated additions to the site off to the right, including new links for archived high quality videos that I will be putting online.  I will begin doing this sometime over the next couple of days, so check back for updates.  I will probably make one of two archived high quality videos available at a time, alternating them weekly.

I've decided to feature a favorite band of mine each month.  As you can tell, music is a huge part of this site.  It's as big of an inspiration for my fan art, videos, slideshows, and fan fiction as Pacey and Joey are.  So, on the right hand side of this main page, I'll also have a small section dedicated to a band that inspires me.  The first band I'm featuring is Dashboard Confessional, who have a new album coming out this month.  Chris Carrabba is an amazing vocalist and lyricist.  I've been looking forward to this new album for nearly a year now.  I can't wait until August 12.
